It was a boring week in Pittsburgh last week. I honestly can’t tell you how many times I had been NCNS or cancelled on that trip. Worst of all - my duo partner got into a car accident (she is okay) but we had to end up cancelling a couple of duo appointments as well. Seems like I have the worst luck ever!
I did find a couple of cute pairs of shorts and tee shirts. Normally I am not a shorts wearer. I will make myself suffer in the summer because I hate how my pale legs look in shorts, but a friend convinced me that I should just be comfortable. I am tan now, so that doesn’t hurt either ;)
I left for DC on Friday morning with my best friend to treat them to comedian Patton Oswalt for their birthday gift, as well as have some fun in DC again.
When we arrived we went straight to the National Museum of African American History and Culture (again) to see the upstairs exhibits since we only saw the downstairs ones last time. I got some soul food on the shirt I was wearing and purchased a shirt at the museum. BTW - museum food is not worth the money! LOL
Here is a candid in front of the museum and you can see the Capitol building in the background.
When I got to the hotel I had found I was upgraded to the Presidential suite, complimentary. Basically I was getting a $600 a night room for $180 - pretty good deal if you ask me! No idea why I was upgraded but I wasn’t gonna ask questions :)
Just check out this tub! It had seats inside it for two people as well as jets!
I wanted to take advantage of the nice weather and the hotel had a pool with cabanas, so I headed out side to mellow out and have a THC lollipop before unpacking. I wanted to bliss out but ended up getting eaten by mosquitos (and it was too cold to swim).
The next morning I had really wanted to go back to Hen Quarter (a breakfast spot I visited last time) because I remembered the food being so good! I got these chicken cracklings and it had a spicy honey dip. YUM!
After Hen Quarter I decided to visit the National Portrait Gallery because they had an exhibit I really wanted to see: 1968, An American Odyssey. I also checked out both Obama portraits while I was there, in addition to enjoying the Kennedy and Clinton portraits.
That evening before the show my friend and I stopped at a Zagat rated empanada place and our eyes were bigger than our stomachs because we let the worker convince us to get the 12 pack!
Patton Oswalt was that evening, and most of the material he did was from old sets but he is really funny and it was amazing to see him live instead of hearing him in recordings or seeing specials. This is a horrible picture but the only one I got…
After the show I hit up a DC hotspot called Busyboys and Poets. I was ill when I went there last time and had to leave early so I wanted to go back and check out the atmosphere and food.
Sunday morning was photoshoot time and I took full advantage of the awesome room! I can’t wait to get the pictures back and share them with you guys!
Last thing I did was have Shake Shack on the way home. I live near a Shake Shack but I just love that place so much. I went on a Nordstrom Rack mini shopping spree and got some cute on sale-lingerie items I will be happy to post pics of soon!
I hope you guys enjoyed highlights from my trip -
I will be visiting the Pittsburgh area one more time before I have my oral surgery (which was pushed back to the 14th by the doctor). Wish me luck!
